Franz Liszt's home is on Rue Etienne-Dumont in Geneva, Switzerland. The young composer enjoyed a renewed spurt of creative energy in 1832 after attending a concert featuring violin virtuoso Niccolo Paganini and began taking steps to ensure his creative output as a pianist. In 1833 he met the married Countess Marie d'Agoult and the two embarked on a 12 year long relationship. Liszt's creative energies were fueled by d'Agoult and he left for Geneva in 1835 and rented an apartment in this building. The Countess left her husband and joined Liszt here, where she would give birth to their first child, Blandine, in December. While living here Liszt taught at the Geneva Conservatory and wrote a piano technique manuel. The couple moved out the following year, travelling further in Switzerland, Italy and France. Following several years of strained relations the couple finally split in 1844.
