Wallis Simpson's home is on East Preston Street in Baltimore, Maryland. It was here the future duchess lived from 1896 to 1901. Her father, Teackle Wallis Warfield, died on November 15, 1896 of tuberculosis and the five month old Wallis and her mother, Alice Montague Warfield, were forced to live here under the care of her father's brother, Solomon Davies Warfield. The wealthy Solomon, who held the position of postmaster of Baltimore, provided for the mother and daughter for several years, until his unwanted advances towards Alice made life uncomfortable for the young mother. By 1902 they had found lodgings with Wallis' recently widowed aunt Bessie Merryman on West Chase Street.
