The Bradish Johnson House is located on Prytania Street in the Garden District of New Orleans, Louisiana. This French Second Empire style mansion was built in 1874 for the noted American industrialist Bradish Johnson, as a retirement home for him and his wife, Louisa Ann Lawrence. The Louisiana native made a name for himself as the owner of several sugar plantations, and a New York distillery. He lived here, as well as a home on Long Island, until his death in 1892. In 1929 the mansion became the new home for the Louise S. McGehee School, an all girls private school which was founded in 1912. After spending its first 17 years at two different addresses on Louisiana Avenue the school moved here, where it remains to this day. There are two plaques outside the house, one honoring Bradish Johnson, the other noting the McGehee School.
