Tintoretto's home is located on Fondamenta dei Mori in Venice, Italy. The noted painter and practitioner of the Venetian School was born in the city in 1518 and moved to this home around 1546. He chose this location to live because of its close proximity to the church of the Madonna dell'Orto, where he had just taken a commission to paint several pieces. He finshed Worship of the Golden Calf, Last Judgment and Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple for the church before moving on to the Scuola di S. Marco, where he fully established his name with four more paintings: St. Mark's Body Brought to Venice, St. Mark Rescuing a Saracen From Shipwreck, Finding of the Body of St. Mark and Miracle of the Slave. Tintoretto died in Venice in 1594 and was laid to rest in the church of Madonna dell'Orto. There is a marker outside his former home honoring him.
