The Bolling Haxall House is located on Franklin Street in the Monroe Ward District of Richmond, Virginia. The Italianate mansion was constructed in 1858 for wealthy Richmond businessman Bolling Haxall. Haxall was a partner in Haxall Mills flour mill, president of Old Dominion Iron and Nail Works and a co-owner of Richmond and Petersburg Railroad Company. He and his family lived here until Union forces accupied Richmond in 1865. The home survived the fires which devastated the city and the Haxalls were able to return after hostilities ceased. Much of Haxall's business was destroyed by the fires and he was forced to sell the property to Dr. Francis T. Willis in 1869. Willis's grandson sold the house in 1900 to the Women's Club. The home's unique cast-iron fencing, windows and balconies are still in evidence. The Bolling Haxall House was added to the Virginia Landmarks Register in 1971 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
